About
Frequently asked questions. Please read these carefully before asking the Amyrlin something.
- General
- What's this clique about?
It's a clique for women who like the fantasy genre. Whether it's roleplaying, literature or something else doesn't matter. You're not required to have read the books this clique is built around.
- The Wheel of Time - what's that?
It's a (long!) series of books written by the author Robert Jordan. He's the one who created the whole story about the Dragon reborn, the Tower, the Aes Sedai... I really recommend them.
- Aes Sedai
- What IS an Aes Sedai?
It's a little tricky if you haven't read the books, but I'll try to explain. An Aes Sedai is a woman schooled in how to control her ability to channel the One Power, the female half of it, known as saidar. In the books they are known to have an ageless appearance, after years of using the One Power. They're proud of what they are. The Tower is the headquarters, so to say. It's ruled by The Amyrlin Seat (like a queen) and the Keeper of the Chronicles (her secretary, more or less). These are the highest of all Aes Sedai. Women who wish to become an Aes Sedai come to the tower, where they first are Novices, and then later Accepted, before they become full-worthy Aes Sedai. They then have to swear three Oaths, and choose an Ajah to join. After that they receive a ring and a shawl in the Ajahs colour.
- Ajahs
- What is an Ajah? How many are there?
Every Aes Sedai, except the Amyrlin Seat and the Keeper, is a member of one of the seven Ajahs. They are groups within the tower, who have different goals and its own philosophy on how the One Power should be used. They have their own traditions and beliefs. The seven Ajahs are represented by colours. Click below to get a brief description of them.
Blue Ajah
Brown Ajah
Gray Ajah
Green Ajah
Red Ajah
White Ajah
Yellow Ajah
You choose the Ajah you feel appeals the most.
- Can I join more than one?
You may join TWO Ajahs. (Just sign up twice.) But no more than that, please.
- Warders (Gaidins)
- What is a Warder/Gaidin?
A gaidin, or a warder, is a man (in most cases) or woman who is bonded to an Aes Sedai. In the books they share each others emotions and sensations to some degree, always aware of one another. Here, in this clique, the gaidin can be anyone who is close to you. A friend, a considered soulmate, a boy/girlfriend, sibling, pet, whatever. Note: You cannot have a male gaidin if you join the Red Ajah, and you can ONLY have more than one gaidin if you're a Green sister, sorry. Nor are you allowed to have another Aes Sedai as your gaidin.
- Do I have to have one?
Not at all. Most of us don't have one.
- Can I have more than one Warder?
Only if you join the Green Ajah. Notify the Amyrlin Seat if you'd like to add more Gaidins. :)
- Joining
- How do I join?
You fill out a form on the Join page.
- I'm a guy - can I join anyway?
Nope, this is girls only. However, you can join the Asha'man clique (the Black Tower) - that one is for guys only.
- What do I need to get accepted?
Please take a peek at Rules & Requirements to see what we want and don't want. ;)
- Codes
- Do I have to link back?
Yeah. Think of it as your Aes Sedai ring or shawl. It shows that you're part of the tower and likes fantasy - be proud of it. The code/button/link has to be put on the splash, main or a special clique page. Sisters who don't have their code up when I check (or remove it later), won't get their site linked anymore. Just their e-mail address.
- Can I make my own button?
Sure! Feel free to donate.
- Can I just use a text-link instead of an image code?
Absolutely.
- Misc
- How do I update my information?
Mail the Amyrlin Seat. :)
